The Dewarists

Post date - October 13th, 2011 | Catagory - Blog, Featured | No comments

The Dewarists is a new, 10-part television series that premieres October 16 at 8pm on Star World. The show features collaborations between artists of different genres, shot at locations across India. Each episode will centre around the creation of an original track by the combination of musicians, and will culminate in the performance of the new composition.

The series has been directed by acclaimed ad-filmmaker and Scribe frontman Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy. The U.K.-
based, DOP-director duo of Fred&Nick co-directed the series, which was produced by the good peeps at Babble Fish
Productions. The duo was recently nominated for an MTV Video Music Award for Mumford & Sons’s video for ‘The
Cave’, which was shot in Goa last year.

The lineup for the first five episodes has been released on the official website, and features indie music stalwarts like Indian Ocean, Imogen Heap and Zeb & Haniya, as well as veteran Bollywood artists like Vishal-Shekhar, Mohit Chauhan and Shantanu Moitra. The second half of the series will (unsurpisingly) feature several names that feature on the lineup of The Dewarists Stage at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender. Monica Dogra (aka Shaa’ir of Shaa’ir + Func) will play the role of an informal host in the series, aside from featuring in one of the collaborations.

Check out the list of episodes below:

So this winter, provided you’re in the neighbourhood of wherever Zero is taking their music to, watch the four lads from Dadar hit the stage one more time after a not so long hiatus of two and a half years. Unconvention 2009

Post date - November 30th, 2009 | Catagory - Blog | No comments

Those present at the British Council Auditorium in Mumbai on the 21-22 of November witnessed history as Only Much Louder in association with the British Council and the Delhi based YP Foundation organized the first ever Unconvention in India.Unconvention, a indie music conference aimed at the grassroots of the industry was all about analyzing the current state of the Indian indie music industry.

oml161

Some of the most exciting voices of the international scene like Andrew Dubber (New Music Strategies) and David Bianchi (Grand Union Management) joined forces with heavyweights of the Indian Scene like Vijay Nair (Only Much Louder) and Mazher Ramzanali (21 Tigers) to discuss, debate, inspire and provide solutions to the problems that plague the life of an indie musician in India.

By the end of two days inspiration roamed free inside the walls of British Council, Mumbai. Unconvention had given a nascent industry the right direction. Value chains were exposed, bands had new options on the horizon and the best of all artists were finally standing up for their rights and claiming what they deserved.

Unconvention was not just an eye opener for those involved with Indian indie it gave a dynamic industry the means of constant evolution. We hope for more Unconventions in India in the near future.

Lastly a huge round of applause to all those who managed to reach the British Council by 9 A.M. on November 21-22 inspite of the fact that it was a weekend. Who said rockstars are not punctual?
