The Dewarists

Post date - October 13th, 2011 | Catagory - Blog, Featured | No comments

The Dewarists is a new, 10-part television series that premieres October 16 at 8pm on Star World. The show features collaborations between artists of different genres, shot at locations across India. Each episode will centre around the creation of an original track by the combination of musicians, and will culminate in the performance of the new composition.

The series has been directed by acclaimed ad-filmmaker and Scribe frontman Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy. The U.K.-
based, DOP-director duo of Fred&Nick co-directed the series, which was produced by the good peeps at Babble Fish
Productions. The duo was recently nominated for an MTV Video Music Award for Mumford & Sons’s video for ‘The
Cave’, which was shot in Goa last year.

The lineup for the first five episodes has been released on the official website, and features indie music stalwarts like Indian Ocean, Imogen Heap and Zeb & Haniya, as well as veteran Bollywood artists like Vishal-Shekhar, Mohit Chauhan and Shantanu Moitra. The second half of the series will (unsurpisingly) feature several names that feature on the lineup of The Dewarists Stage at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender. Monica Dogra (aka Shaa’ir of Shaa’ir + Func) will play the role of an informal host in the series, aside from featuring in one of the collaborations.

The Bacardi NH7 Weekender is a multi-genre, multiple-stages, first-of-its-kind annual music festival that started in 2010. In just one year, Bacardi NH7 Weekender has become the most anticipated music festival in the country. The festival features the best music from India and across the world – from underground artists that should feature on your playlist to award-winning artists you’ve been dying to see live.

Each stage will feature a different genre of music and experience. There’s dance and electronica at Eristoff Wolves Den, world, folk and eclectic music at The Dewarists Stage and rock and metal at the Bacardi Black Rock Arena – with a lot more to come.

The 2010 edition saw performances by Asian Dub Foundation, Reverend Soundsystem, Pentagram, Parikrama, Demonic Resurrection, Scribe, Bhayanak Maut, Zero, The Magic Numbers, The Raghu Dixit Project, Susheela Raman, Indian Ocean, Airport, Ankur Tewari & The Ghalat Family, and Swarathma amongst others.

The 2011 festival will be held at Magarpatta City, Pune between 18-20 November at a massive 17-acre premium facility.

The Bacardi NH7 Weekender will also host arguably India’s best tattoo convention, Tattoo Republic, in 2011.

The Bacardi NH7 Weekender is produced and promoted by MotherSwear Entertainment - the Festivals and large-format events division of Only Much Louder, and is co-promoted by Stephen Budd and Martin Elbourne.
