Angad Singh Ranyal – Pirated Sardar to friends – is a stand-up comedian, content creator and writer, named by CNN-IBN as one of the top 20 comics in India. He is a member of the popular comedy collective East India Comedy. Angad claims to have entered the world of comedy through the “Indian culture-approved route”, by first completing his Engineering and MBA. Both degrees have subsequently provided ripe fodder for his brand of wholesome, clean comedy, that has garnered over 10 million views across social media platforms.
From acing the open-mic circuit, Angad has swiftly gone on to become one of the most popular and identifiable faces in Indian comedy, having performed over a thousand shows in India, Singapore and Malaysia. He is a popular booking for the corporate world, having entertained over 150 companies during his career. In November 2019, he became one of the few Indian comics to have toured North America, performing in 9 cities along with fellow EIC member Sapan Verma.
He can be seen in many avatars on Amazon Prime Video – as a stand-up, he released his first special, Kaafi Filmy, on the platform to widespread critical acclaim in 2017. He also appears on the streaming platform’s topical news show EIC Outrage and acted as a mentor to Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu on the original series One Mic Stand.
While not making jokes in front of the camera, he’s often writing off it – including for award shows such as IIFA and Screen Awards, where he worked with top Bollywood celebrities such as Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor and Siddharth Malhotra. He has also written for specials such as Comedy News Network.
