As with most great stand-up comedy origin stories, Appurv Gupta was your run-of-the-mill engineer until he decided to be funny on stage. Though Appurv has tried numerous times to return to his life as an engineer, he just hasn’t stopped being lauded for his work, not the least of which was CNN-Network 18 named him one of the Top 20 Stand-Up Comedians to watch out for.
When he tried to go back to engineering once again NDTV Prime-exclusive gave him his own show “The Rising Stars of Comedy with Appurv Gupta”. After that, his engineering dreams were dashed, time and time again – over 150 Million views on social media, Comedy Central calling him the leading Hinglish comedian, and being listed on the Forbes India Celebrity 100 Nominees list. To this day, Appurv can be found touching the hearts of millions as he jokes about the engineering life, which he clearly misses. It’s too bad that he’s one of the best comedians because he had a very bright future in IT.
