As the world’s number one premium rum – Bacardi wanted to be an enabler and discoverer of music talent in South Africa leading to the creation of a platform – Bacardi House Party Sessions(BHPS).
With Bacardi, we paired up four big hit acts with four young up-and-coming artists. The Slikour On Life team from JHB helped us find the freshest and most promising names in the local music arena.
Each of the eight chosen artists lives the Bacardi brand. Nadia Nakai, arguably one of the best female emcees in the game, was paired up with 26-year-old rising rap star Priddy Ugly who had just released his second album E.G.Y.P.T in 2017.
Nadia Nakai paired up with Priddy ugly for the first iteration of Bacardi Live Sessions. Priddy performed Tshela from his album E.G.Y.P.T and two new songs included in the deluxe version of the album releasing a week after the Live Sessions.
Here’s where you can see the full video of edition one of Bacardi Live sessions.
Priddy’s unmatched stage presence and performance was a taste of what fans were to expect from Priddy Ugly at his very own Bacardi House Party. Priddy was far from done and he had a few other surprises planned for South Africa!
Priddy and Nadia’s House Party was the closing season party for Johannesburg music lovers to remember!
Before the pair took to stage, the crowd was treated to electric performances by Hip Hop rising stars – Shane Eagle, Reason, and Kid Tini to name a few.
Even the pouring rain did not deter our party animals in the crowd from moving to the energy packed by Nadia and Priddy.
During the party, Priddy hinted at collaborating with Nadia for a song and a few weeks later we had – Ah-Hah(Uh Huh), a Hip Hop and trap song with a very catchy and singable ad-lib.
The music video sees both the artists being tongue-in-cheek about their lifestyle and who they really are as people. The money shot of the music video was Nadai Nakai rapping and performing inside an exaggerated cocktail glass on a 360 degree couch. See it for yourself:
While the fans were still not done drooling over this music video, Priddy Ugly released another hit with Bacardi called Smokolo – A kwaito and Hip Hop fused song. The lyrics and music video of the song document his journey from Soweto to achieving fame and public acclaim.
The music video visually portrays the song’s lyrics. It shows Priddy working menial jobs, his days as an athlete, his grandmother, and his intermediate family to his partner in crime and love – Bontle Modiselle.

BHPS 2018 as a platform not only gave us these great music videos and parties but also showed how Bacardi truly lifted the local music talent and discovered stars that are now shining in South African music! Three more duos apart from Nadia and Priddy performed at parties, made music videos and made history. We at OML fondly called them the Bacardi – 8!
Here are stories from the other three artist duos that came together and made this possible –
