Aishwarya Mohanraj is one of India’s youngest and freshest comedians, breaking into the spotlight as being one of the ten finalists on the first season of Amazon Prime Video’s comedy hunt show, Comicstaan. Her brand of self-deprecatory and often surreal humour has won her many fans.
The shift from being a market research analyst to a recognizable face in the Indian comedy circuit has been a swift one. Inspired by the response her funny social media posts would get, Aishwarya tried her hand at stand-up. She has done hundreds of shows across the country including LOLStars, Headliners, Zomaland and Bacardi NH7 Weekender. She has appeared in brand work for Buzzoka, Bingo!, OkCupid, Tasty Treats, Tinder and Truecaller. She is also a popular corporate show performer, having entertained employees at Reliance, Johnson & Johnson, and R&B.
Aishwarya is also an accomplished comedy writer, with credits on shows across YouTube, Hotstar & Amazon Prime Video. These include Abish Mathew‘s talk show Son of Abish, the topical news show On Air With AIB, the celebrity stand-up show One Mic Stand, Prajakta Koli’s original Pretty Fit and the Netflix-produced weekly entertainment show Behensplaining. In addition, she has also written for the IIFA Awards. And fittingly, she also wrote for the second season of Comicstaan, the show that propelled her to fame in the first place.
