Wissam Kamal Champions A New Format In The Lebanese Comedy Scene With His Open Mic Crawl

A comedy/ vlog/ reality series where upcoming Lebanese comic Wissam Kamal, gate crashes the hottest night spots in Beirut and treats the revellers to an impromptu stand up comedy set. Throughout the series he personifies Dewar’s Live True message by journaling his journey of staying true to his passion and challenging himself everyday to improve his art.

In 2017 Dewar’s had a dual objective of supporting the alternative comedy scene in Lebanon and using content to personify it’s brand messaging of #LiveTrue in Lebanon. The essence of #LiveTrue is to relentlessly follow your passions and stay true to your core convictions.

For this task, we had to look no further than comic Wissam Kamal. His passion for comedy was evident to us when he used this platform as a tool to challenge himself, upgrade his skill, and put it all on the line for this series.

Each episode of the series saw Wissam gate crash bars in the middle east’s party capital Beirut with a speaker and a mike. Each set was essentially an open mike for him, for an audience who weren’t expecting a stand up comedy act. All comics can attest to the difficulty of opening to a cold crowd and Wissam did this on a regular basis with ‘Crash The Mic’.

Every episode was peppered with anecdotes of his incredible journey of fighting all odds and becoming a comic thus underpinning Dewar’s messaging in the narrative of the show.

The audience gets a taste of Wissam’s comedy, Beurit’s nightlife and master class in the art staying true to one’s passion all thanks to Dewar’s commitment of supporting Lebanese comedy scene.
